No drugs, no scalpels, no lesions. Grey Matter’s technology supports a revolutionary approach to treating brain disorders across the lifespan.

We are developing non-invasive neuromodulation devices that can be used in a doctor’s office – or even at home. Here’s how.
As a first step, 1-2 scans of your head need to be taken in order to measure your skull and brain.
Next, the dimensions of your head are used to fabricate a custom helmet and to position ultrasound transmitters inside.
The custom-fit helmet acts as its own frame of reference, thereby allowing for highly accurate treatments without the use of an MRI or other image-guidance tool.
As our system does not require real-time image guidance or subject immobilization, neuromodulation can be performed in doctors’ office - or even at home.
Grey Matter Neurosciences does not yet have a medical device authorized for use in clinical trials or licensed for clinical use in any indication. However, if you or a friend / relative are interested in potentially participating in future clinical research that employs Grey Matter’s unique technology, please visit our clinical trial registry.
We have attempted to answer a few of the questions we often receive from prospective patients in regards to focused ultrasound treatments.
No, focused-ultrasound-based neuromodulation is generally imperceptible.
While the utility of focused-ultrasound-based neuromodulation is being assessed by researchers around the world in a variety of brain conditions, Grey Matter is developing a system that we hope will be useful in treating depression in adults and seniors. We are also interested cognitive impairment and dementia and brain diseases associated with aging.
We are hoping to kick-off a first clinical trial in early 2027. More information on this study should be available soon.
We do not yet know what the side-effects of treatment using the Grey Matter system could be. However, published clinical studies* using focused-ultrasound-based neuromodulation delivered with other systems have found very few significant treatment side effects.

We do not expect so. Our device is intended to support ambulatory treatments.
We will periodically send out information on our progress and plans. If you wish to receive this information, please add your name and email address to the distribution list for our newsletter.
No, the Grey Matter device is not commercially available at this time. Product registrations with the relevant regulatory authorities in each country will be obtained prior to sale of the product.
