While our technology is applicable to a wide range of diseases across the lifespan, we are initially positioning our unique transcranial focused ultrasound systems to address disorders of mood and cognition.
Grey Matter Neurosciences is a Toronto-based medical technology company developing revolutionary medical devices and drug-device combinations.
While our technology is applicable to a wide range of diseases across the lifespan, we are initially positioning our unique transcranial focused ultrasound systems to address disorders of mood and cognition.
Our mission is to revolutionize brain health by developing advanced, non-invasive neuromodulation products that empower older adults to manage cognitive and mood disorders outside of the confines of hospitals.
Driven by a passion to improve brain health outcomes, we prioritize safety, usability, and evidence-based design for our products. We seek to break down barriers to care by providing empowering technologies that foster autonomy and improve emotional resilience in aging populations.
Founded in 2024 by neuroscientist and entrepreneur Dr. Jeffrey Coull, Grey Matter Neurosciences advances and commercializes world-leading focused ultrasound technology developed by Dr. Kullervo Hynynen and his team at Sunnybrook Research Institute.
Dr. Hynynen’s work was – and continues to be – supported in no small part by the Weston Family Foundation, which is deeply committed to improving treatment options for patients with neurodegenerative diseases of aging.
The Weston family was also instrumental in the creation of Grey Matter, having provided substantial seed capital via its Wittington Innovation Fund, alongside other key investors.
Grey Matter’s family includes our full-time team, Board of Directors, and Scientific Advisory Board. Collectively, this group brings decades of experience in commercial medical device development, as well as deep expertise in the engineering, physics and clinical application of transcranial focused ultrasound.
United by a shared commitment to advancing treatments for age-related brain diseases, we think we are uniquely positioned to translate leading innovation into meaningful clinical impact.
